Pink
There are two absolutely stunning cherry trees in front of our house. This is what it looked like two weeks ago:
Now all the blossoms have fallen off. But it is still pretty, because whenever we open our front door we are greeted by this amazing pink landscape:It is just a girl's heaven!
Day in the garden
Spent today in the garden. A little bit less sunny than yesterday, but still a bit windy. Tim had loads of work to do, so he took the opportunity to work from home, and spread out all his papers in the garden (securely fastened under coke cans, glasses, shoes, glue, and sweaters). We are also cat sitting this weekend, so Tim got to have some company when I got cold and went inside. In a bit M is coming over for dinner, and then it's Britain's got talent on TV. Very relaxing day, indeed.
The boys in action
Someone had a really tough day...
Spring is here
I am almost inclined to say that summer is here. Today, it has been 20 degrees (Celsius, that is) and sunny. I have spent the entire morning reading a good book in the sun, but now in the afternoon I am inside, working, listening to Lily Allen and drinking coffee.
Here are a few pictures from the summery garden. Enjoy!
Snow!
Yes, I know most of you think Englishmen are really silly who cannot take some snow - and to a certain extent I agree. But then think about how little snow one normally gets in this country (or at least in the southern parts). So why should you be overly prepared? I mean, even in places like Scandinavia and New England people are sometimes (too often) caught off guard.
Well, this is what it looked like last night (an attempt to take a photo of Tim in the snow):
And this is our kitchen window this morning:
It was pure chaos, to say the least. All bus routes shut down (as from last night, but Tim has reported that the drivers outside our local bus depot were engaged in a big snowball fight this morning), as well as all trains and almost all tube lines! I was secretly looking forward to a 'snow day' with Tim (yohoo! extra Sunday!), but as Victoria line was the only one fully operating there was not really any excuses for Tim not to go to work (Victoria line being the only tube line that is fully underground). I could have gone to the BL on the Victoria - but soon discovered that all the reading rooms were shut due to the lack of staff! So, cosy day at home for me. (And also a good excuse not to let Jim out, who is still looking a bit weak.)
Back at home
We are finally back in the flat. It is a bit chilly, but not too bad (feared the worst). It took quite some time to get home from Stansted (no trains for two days, so complete panic with all the coaches - we were apparently lucky - earlier in the day the queue had been two hours), and I feel a bit bad for Tim who has to get up for work tomorrow morning. I will stay in, and unpack, and relax, and contemplate meaning of life.
Home by the flat, we were greeted by this beautiful scenery. Snow! Tim had to take a picture. (And yes, it is our house you see.) Absolutely wonderful, and absolutely gone the morning after.
Photos of the day
So, autumn is finally here. It is windy, rainy and cold (apparently it's warmer in Reykjavik than here), but also rather pretty.
Here's Stockwell by night:
